2017 Fundraising Goals

2017 Fundraising Goals

This year, Friends of C.R.O.S.S. has identified the Automated Cancer Tissue Processor and Automated Tissue Staining Machine as one of its fundraising goals. We hope that the funds raised by the 2017 Cross Atlantic Cycle will be sufficient to cover the cost of this equipment and train the team of cancer researchers at Trinity College and St. James’ Hospital to use it in their research.

The Automated Cancer Tissue Processor and Automated Tissue Staining Machine works in the domain of histology, the study of the structures of cells and tissues in cancer tissues and the biological markers they express. This equipment will enable researchers to stain fresh cancer tissue from consenting patients with different antibodies and examine how the cancer responds to these antibodies. Researchers will be able to learn about the markers associated with early and late stage disease and will also be able to identify which markers indicate how a patient will respond to different therapies.
