Brothers David, Paul and Richard Wallace gathered at Trinity College Dublin on Thursday morning to launch their Rugby Legends Malin to Mizen Cycle 2013, which is taking place in September in aid of cancer research. They are the only three siblings to have played for their country as well as for the British and Irish Lions.
Matt Cooper lined out to support them. Another rugby legend, Dr Syd Millar, is this year’s honouree at the annual Ireland Funds Rugby Luncheon 2013 at the Shelbourne Hotel next Friday. The director of the Irish chapter of the Ireland Funds, Caitriona Fottrell, said this year’s event has been sold out for some time. The chief executive of the Worldwide Ireland Funds, Kieran McLoughlin, will fly in from New York to meet other former players and supporters, including Brendan Mullin, Phillip Matthews and Jack Kyle.
Meanwhile, after 20 years, the philanthropist Loretta Brennan Glucksman will step down as chairperson of the Ireland Funds but will remain on the board.
