Tv Documentary: 2016 Cross Atlantic CycleApril 12, 2017
Our fund raising efforts from 2016 have just purchased for Cross Charity and Cancer Research at Trinity College and St James’s Hospital.
As tumours grow, the levels of the oxygen in the tumours can determine how fast the tumour grows and spread. In large tumours, the levels of oxygen in the centre of the tumours can be very low (hypoxic) and in these regions of the tumour, the cells can behave more aggressively and usually these cells have a reduced sensitivity to chemotherapy and radiation. The Hypoxystations will allow us to mimic the levels of oxygen levels in cancer cells and tumour tissues and we can examine the biology in hypoxic tumours and their response and resistance to different therapies.
