Uniphar Group are delighted to announce that they will be the main partner of the 2016 CROSS Atlantic cycle. The event will commence on 4 September from Dingle Peninsula and will finish on 8 September in Westport, Co Mayo. Led by International Rugby Legend, Paul Wallace, this will be the fifth year of the cycle where members of local communities and businesses take part to raise much needed funds for cancer research.
Says Ger Rabbette, Group CEO, “I remember when I was asked to complete the cycle earlier this year. The decision to take part was very simple to me. When I look back on September’s cycle, I can honestly say that it will be one of the most memorial things I have ever done. The team spirit throughout the event along with pure enthusiasm and craic was unreal. It was a brilliant week and fantastic to be able to share it with such great people”.
After a lot of thought and deliberation, it became apparent to me that being part of this fantastic charity for 2016 was clearly evident. Working with the background team in the run up to the 2015 cycle and being part of the great fundraising initiatives was truly amazing. The sheer professionalism and dedication of the team is truly inspirational. It is a great way of giving something back and to help raise funds for more research to combat this terrible illness.
It is Uniphar’s goal for 2016 that we raise a €100,000 to go towards CROSS. The work and research that goes on at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, Trinity College and St James’s Hospital cannot go without notice. A significant element of the research programme relates to prevention and treatment of oesophageal and stomach cancer, but the Centre also undertakes research in cancer of the breast, colon, rectum and lung. Uniphar Group are delighted to be the C.R.O.S.S. 2016 partner. We look forward to raising much needed funds together into 2016 and beyond.
